“Under 50KB” and “between 20KB and 50KB” are different
Some exam, recruitment and application portals specify a band such as 20KB to 50KB. A conventional compressor only checks the upper limit, so an aggressively compressed image can still be rejected for falling below the minimum.
This tool aims near the maximum to preserve detail, then checks the actual output against both boundaries. A result is marked ready only when its measured file size is inside the range.
Processing stays in the browser, which is useful for photos, signatures and identity documents. The image is re-encoded locally and EXIF metadata, including camera and GPS information, is removed from the result.

How the 20KB–50KB range check works
The encoder searches for the highest quality that stays below the maximum. If minimum quality is still too large, dimensions are reduced and the search runs again.
After encoding, the actual Blob size is compared with the minimum as a separate validation step. Files below the minimum remain available individually for inspection, but are clearly marked and excluded from Download all.
JPEG is selected by default because it is widely accepted by application portals. WebP can preserve more detail at the same size, but should only be used when the destination explicitly accepts it.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

Why can a file below 20KB still be rejected?
Some portals enforce a minimum as well as a maximum. A 15KB image is below 50KB, but it still fails a requirement written as 20KB–50KB.
Can I compress PNG or WebP images?
Yes — PNG, WebP, JPEG and BMP inputs are all accepted. Output is JPEG by default because virtually every portal accepts it; switch to WebP output if you want even smaller files.
Can I enter a different minimum and maximum?
Yes. Enter any minimum and maximum between 5KB and 5000KB, as long as the maximum is greater than the minimum.
What if the compressed image is below the minimum?
The result is labelled “Below the minimum” and excluded from Download all. This is uncommon for normal phone photos but can happen with very small or visually simple source images.
Can I check several images against the same range?
Yes — add up to 20 images per batch. Download all includes only the results that satisfy both limits.
Does the compressed image keep EXIF metadata?
No. Re-encoding strips all EXIF metadata, including GPS location and camera details. For ID photos and documents that's a privacy bonus: the file you upload carries no hidden location data.
